off road videos question by mintai2003: Is there a greater chance of getting longboard injuries while downhilling as opposed to tech tricks?
So I started out as a longboard commuter and now I’m getting interested in doing funner things. My tiger claws, manuals, and etc are all horrible… but practice makes perfect right? As for downhilling, my friend took me on some average hills just a few days after I learned how to ride. I got the speed wobbles, freaked out, and did an epic bail, but thanks to my shuai jiao/judo training I rolled out with only a lil scar left on my wrist no bigger than a cigarette diameter.

All in all… I’m not a fan of downhilling, scares the shit out of me! But I gotta admit the speed rush is fun.

Recently I was checking out some longboard accident videos of youtube and some were pretty bad… way beyond scrapes and bruises. The majority of these videos were from downhilling by both people who knew what they were doing and kids being dumb.

So to stay safe… am I better off working on tech tricks on the side walk? Stay off the road with cars? I’ll probably stay away from skate parks too. Or am I better off just sticking to commuting. No matter what I still want to learn powerslides for speed checking.

PS, I’m not a pussy, I’ll take a good beating from the concrete road. I just don’t wanna get seriously effed up and not be able to do stuff for a good while.

the people in those videos had no clue what they are doing, and have there setups all wrong. downhill accidents tend to be worse, but only if you don’t wear helmet/slide gloves/pads. downhill is fun, but make sure you have your setup in a way that you feel comfortable. remember though, wobbles are 90% rider, 10% setup. oh yeah, and make sure you know how to slide. if you do get wobbles, or there is a place where you feel you need to stop, make sure you know how.

Our state has a hotline in which we can ‘dob in a hoon’ (hoon being someone intentionally breaking road rules for their own thrills), and tonight I called it, and reported people that posted their intention to “hoon” on a strip of road on their facebooks, as well as posting “preparation” videos of burnouts and “drifting” around corners and roundabouts.

the thing is, one of these people is my ‘friend’. I say ‘friend’ as it is more my partners friends, very close friend.

I feel so guilty about, but really should I?
It should I am doing the public a favour by getting these people off the road, but I don’t feel that at all, all I feel is guilt that my friend is going to lose his license, and that I’ve betrayed a friendship.
He has already lost his license in the past, so I fear he’ll get a criminal conviction and it will be all my fault.
I do like this man, I do, and that is why I feel so horrible. But it peeves me to see someone flaunting their intentions to hoon so freely.

I am a mum, and have almost been hit by local “hoons” with my son in the car, so I have no tolerance of them, especially ones who brag about it.

Did I do the right thing?
” Hey, can you please stop hooning, it’s not cool”

“F*** off! Just don’t be on the road when I am, I’ll let you know where we are so you don’t run into us lol”

Conversation has happened in the past to no avail.

That person is an adult and needs to feel the consequences of his actions.
Also those hoons can hurt people and they still do it despite the risk to themselves and innocent people

Saw a trailer recently; it started like a home video with a few guys messing around doing a trick with a knife an their hand. They had some kind of powers where they could control objects.. they used it to play pranks on people and they hide some womans car? Then they’re driving and swerve and one of the men accidentally pushes someone’s car off the road with their power.. it looks really good, haven’t seen the trailer since! Help!!

I think its the new release movie CHRONICLE http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1706593/ which comes out in February.
A sci-fi horror movie about that guy who develops some sort of power, he contracted by touching some alien artifact, which will be revealed at the end while rewinding that camcorder tape.

This was the only advertisement I actually watched on Youtube and I will be certain to watch the movie itself
