hi, I’m interested in buying a used fj cruiser and later installing a lift kit. But when searching for a used fjc would find some with with lift kits and off-road tires already installed. I just wondering if its worth buying a used car that been used for off-roading. Is it bad on the engine etc?

I would never buy a new car…… not only are dealers scam artists and there is a huge mark up but when buying a used car especially in a bad economy if you have cash you will be way better off. Look for a used car that is even still under warranty if that is a huge concern. Secondly if you want an off road vehicle look for a nice used one that has not been used for off roading. In other words look for my moms car, she bought a 4×4 pathfinder and has taken it on exactly 2 dirt roads both of which she did not need 4×4 for but she used it anyway to make herself feel good. She is not alone i know lots of people like that, and lots of people who need the lift kit, and every other accessory under the sun to look cool and rarely use them to their full potentional. So why be a sucker and go to the dealer and pay full price and then put full price accessories etc on a car when you can get a couple year old one that someones already had their fun with and spent the money on (good lift kits are not cheap and cheap lift kits are not good) youll get alot more bang for your buck and itll still get you the same places.

Truck tires range from 30 inches up to 60 inches
35′s tend to be the average though, requiring only 4 inch lift for most vehicles. thats 106.4 inches in diameter.

I am thinking about buying my husband some new tires for our four wheeler, but I am not sure which type. I know the size that he wants and I know he wants something good in the mud. I also have a budget so what are some good brand/style ATV tires that I should check into getting him?

Have you tried craigslist.com? There is usually some great deals there. You can get some brand new (from factory) ones that someone took off their new ATV simply because they wanted something that looked “meaner” on their ATV. But…the reality is, that unless you’re going to be driving in mud and water nearly up to the seat your not going to need any high dollar fancy ones. They are sort of a waste anyway. Most ATV have 4 wheel drive, and are pretty light (relatively) so they are not going to generally get stuck anyway. But like I said, check out craigslist.com (do a search in your area), and see what pops up. Good luck

If your not familiar with craigslist.com. Go to your city (or one close) and click on that city. Then click on the “motorcycle” section and search for “atv tires”. Good luck.

I have a 2010 toyota tacoma, and i am going to put on off roading rims and tires on it but dont have enough money to lift it yet. Its a 4×4 trd offroad edition. the stock rim size is 16”. i was wondering if i could fit some 15′s on it and what the maximum tire size would be for it assuming i could fit the 15′s on it, if not then whats the max tire size on 16 inchers. thanks

the more tire you have and less wheel you have the better …get some 12 inch wheels and put some tires on it that are about 22 inches around..reason is ….you have a light truck already and the more air you can get in it to make it “float” on the mud the better….you dont see people muddin with low pro’s

off road tires question by A. Harris: Are there any 35″ off road tires that’ll fit 22″ rims?
I’m looking for some 35″ off-road tires for my 08 Wrangler. I really like the over-sized rim look with the off-road tires (I think it looks cool,) but can’t find some that’ll fit 22″ rims. I found a lot that’ll fit 20″ rims but I would like to go a bit larger if I could. Thanks.
WOW I had know idea there were so many Jeep critics on here. Who said anything about going rockcrawling? I live in New York City and don’t plan on using my Jeep to climb mountains. This is why I hesitate to ask Jeep questions for this very reason. Too many die-hard Jeep country boys! I can careless about how you fix up your Jeep so you shouldn’t care about how I prefer to have mine! I’ve seen Jeeps with 8″ lifts and 40″ tires at the mall taking up 3 parking spaces. I personally don’t see the point of fixing your Jeep up that much unless you’re a professional monster truck driver but hey whatever floats your boat. I don’t judge! That’s their Jeep and they have the right to fix it up anyway they want. I respect everyone else’s Jeeps so I would appreciate you do the same!.

P.S. What fun would it be if everyone fixed up their Jeeps the same way?
